Climbing is for Everybody

Making climbing accessible for all, one kid at a time

Our Mission
Mission Statement
As passionate and experienced young rock climbers, we believe climbing is an amazing way to challenge both the body and mind, build a connection with nature, and gain the confidence necessary to tackle various challenges faced throughout life. We started Boulder Buddies to introduce the world of rock climbing to kids who might otherwise have few opportunities to do so.
Our Program
On the third Friday of every month, Boulder Buddies meets at a local LA climbing gym. Kids (ages 5-13) who are new to climbing are brought to the event from afterschool programs and other youth organizations. Each kid is paired with an experienced high-school volunteer who will safely teach them the techniques, skills, and mindset they need to become successful rock climbers. The costs of day passes and rental equipment for kids and volunteers are covered by Boulder Buddies. If your kid is interested in climbing with us, reach out to info@boulderbuddies.org for more information on upcoming events.

Grayson Green

Co-Founder

Grayson Green is someone who has always loved a challenge, and for him, this came in the form of rock climbing. He is currently on the recreational climbing team at The Stronghold Climbing Gym with Henry Miller and climbs both for the team and for his own enjoyment. He has taught lots of other kids how to climb safely while still having fun and hopes to share his love of challenges with members of his community.

Henry Miller

Co-Founder

Henry Miller has been climbing at all the local Los Angeles climbing gyms for years and is on a recreation climbing team at The Stronghold Climbing Gym downtown Los Angeles. He’s more recently become passionate about outdoor climbing. He has his sights set on climbing El Capitan in Yosemite soon. He loves sharing his passion for the sport with young climbers.

Matias Ziperovich

Co-Founder

Matias Ziperovich has been in love with the outdoors for as long as he can remember. Before he discovered rock climbing he scrambled up trees in his neighborhood and scaled the play-structures at the park. He has lots of experience teaching and leading younger kids from his years as a Counselor In Training at his summer camp. Matias hopes to share his love of nature with the next generation of adventurers.

Volunteering
If you are a high-schooler with rock climbing experience, Boulder Buddies is a great way to give back to your community. Volunteers must be in the 10-12th grades with experience taking care of younger kids. Volunteers are required to pass a belay test at the Stronghold Climbing Gym located near Downtown LA. Boulder Buddies will cover all costs for volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering, please fill out the volunteer application form below. Please email us at info@boulderbuddies.org with any questions.
We Need Donations!
Climbing is expensive! In order to introduce climbing to a new generation of young climbers, we need donations! All donations will go directly towards purchasing day passes, harnesses, and other necessary rental equipment.

The Stronghold Climbing Gym near downtown Los Angeles is the current location of all our climbing events.*
